Is HubSpot email marketing software for you?
HubSpot is a comprehensive inbound marketing, sales, and customer service platform, offering a range of tools to help businesses grow and manage their marketing efforts. When it comes to email marketing, HubSpot is often seen as one of the best options available.
HubSpot pros
- User-friendly interface: HubSpot’s intuitive interface makes it easy for users to create and manage email campaigns. The drag-and-drop editor simplifies the process, even for beginners.
- All-in-one platform: HubSpot isn’t just an email marketing tool. It’s part of a larger CRM suite that integrates sales, marketing, and customer service, giving you a 360-degree view of your customers and campaigns.
- Automation capabilities: HubSpot offers advanced automation features, allowing users to create personalized workflows that send the right email to the right person at the right time.
- Robust analytics: HubSpot provides detailed analytics for email marketing campaigns, including open rates, click-through rates, bounce rates, and more. This helps marketers optimize campaigns and track ROI effectively.
- Strong integrations: HubSpot integrates with numerous third-party applications, making it easy to connect with other tools you may already be using (e.g., Salesforce, Shopify, Google Analytics).
- Free tier: For smaller businesses or startups, HubSpot’s free tier includes basic CRM and email marketing tools, allowing users to get started without significant upfront costs.
HubSpot cons
- Email limits on free plan: The free plan limits the number of emails you can send per month. This might not be enough for businesses with a growing subscriber base.
- Limited customization: While HubSpot offers some email templates, the design customization options can feel limiting compared to other email marketing software like Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign.
- Not specialized in email marketing: Although HubSpot excels as a CRM platform, if you’re looking for a tool solely for email marketing, you might find its broader feature set overwhelming or unnecessary.
HubSpot key feature: CRM
At the core of HubSpot is its CRM, which provides a centralized database where businesses can manage all their customer interactions and data. The CRM is free and enables teams to track leads, manage contacts, and monitor sales activity, giving businesses a clear view of their customer relationships. This foundation integrates seamlessly with HubSpot’s other tools, allowing marketing, sales, and customer service teams to collaborate effectively.
HubSpot Key feature: Marketing Hub
HubSpot’s Marketing Hub is designed to attract and engage leads through inbound marketing tactics. It offers tools for creating and managing content, including a powerful blog editor, email marketing capabilities, social media scheduling, and landing page creation. HubSpot also provides robust SEO tools to optimize content for search engines, helping businesses improve their visibility online. Marketing automation features, such as automated email workflows and lead nurturing campaigns, allow users to deliver personalized experiences at scale.

It seems to be hit or miss depending on who you interact with. At my current employer, we use HubSpot, and the team has been very helpful. However, when working with others to start a consulting business, my experience has been quite negative.
We use HubSpot as our CRM and couldn’t be happier. Our company has been focusing on cleanup and maintenance, and we’ve discovered numerous tools that aid in this process. I also appreciate that HubSpot provides training and courses for any new team members who are looking to learn. Highly recommended!
The product is quite nice! However, the pricing plan is very predatory, so be cautious when reviewing the contract to ensure it isn’t a 12-month commitment. The representatives were consistently dishonest on the phone to persuade us to sign, but thankfully, we checked the reviews beforehand!
